Rhodes International Airport "Diagoras"
Rhodes International Airport is the fourth largest airport in Greece in total passenger volume, with the traffic for 2007 reaching 415,166 passengers for domestic flights and 1,395,021 passengers for international flights. [2] It started operations on June 28, 1977, replacing the outdated for civilian airport, which was located a few kilometers east, in the Maritsa area, and nowadays it is military under ICAO code: LGRD. [3] The floor covering of the aircraft covers a total area of 110,600 sq.m. with the possibility of parking 13 aircraft, while the terminal building has an area of 20,753 square meters, with a capacity of 1,700 passengers, with the expansion and improvement works to continue [4]. Since 2000, air traffic control is backed by a radar approach, and there is an automated flight plan management system. [5] The airport operates all day and hours of the year, while services such as car rental, car parking, duty-free shop.
